Diving Season
You can visit all the Phuket dive spots all of the year round, but the best conditions exist from November through to April.
Late May to October brings monsoon winds and surface swells to the island, sometimes reducing visibility by about 30%, but it's pretty rare that diving trips are cancelled due to bad weather. Indeed some of the sites are just as good, if not better, in the low season. October also brings heavy rains to the Andaman Sea.
The liveaboard season runs from early October through to mid May. There are also a limited number of liveaboard safari cruises to the Phi Phi Islands and Similan Islands all the year round, although the unpredictable weather patterns during the months from May to October can lead to cancellations.

PADI Scuba Diving Courses Phuket
Thailand offers some of the best scuba diving in the world. The Similan Islands diving area is reputed to be one of the top ten dive destinations on the planet. Learning to dive in Thailand can be a great way to spend some of your holiday. It’s a common misconception that learning to scuba dive will involve spending days in a classroom learning about boring scuba diving theory. We style our PADI dive courses so you will spend only a few hours in a classroom, before moving onto the fun stuff in the pool and on the dive boat. Vacations should be about having fun and relaxing and that just about sums up the growing sport of scuba diving.
We offer the full range of PADI dive courses from Discover Scuba Diving all the way through to PADI Instructor and beyond. We have over 14 years of valuable experience in the dive industry in Thailand, and offer the best unbiased advice to prospective customers. Crystal Clear Thailand offer the best facilities both in the dive centre and on the dive boats. ‘We make it Crystal Clear’.

PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) Course
Do you know what to do in a medical emergency? Take a moment to try and picture the following scenarios:
- A child is playing on the beach, and is hit by a falling coconut.
- A Japanese tourist is pulled unconscious from heavy surf at Kata Beach
- A tuk-tuk crashes in Phuket, badly injuring the passengers and driver.
- A diver surfaces from a dive and complains of tingling fingers and nausea.
What would you do? How would you act if you were in one of these situations and there was no one else there to help? Someone's life could be in your hands! Accidents and illnesses are a part in everyday life in Thailand. By learning the simple skills in both the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) Courses, you can give vital emergency care to those in need and be an Emergency Responder.
Emergency First Response is actually made up of two courses:
- Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR)
- Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid)
Please note, these courses might be taught together or separately by your EFR Instructor.
The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) Course teaches you the steps and techniques for handling life-threatening and serious medical emergencies.
In EFR Primary Care you will learn and practice the following skills:

- Scene Assessment
- Barrier Use
- Primary Assessment
- Rescue Breathing
- One Rescuer, Adult CPR
- Serious Bleeding Management
- Shock Management
- Spinal Injury Management
There are also a further three recommended (but not compulsory) skills:
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Use
- Conscious Choking Adult
- Emergency Oxygen Use
You will also learn how to apply the ABCD'S of the circle of care, to maintain a persons life who is suffering with a life-threatening condition. You can provide the patient with every possible chance of survival.
The Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid) Course teaches you how to deal with non life-threatening medical emergencies when the emergency medical services are either delayed or are not available.
In EFR Secondary Care you will learn about the following skills:
- Injury Assessment
- Illness Assessment
- Bandaging
- Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures
You will also learn to apply the ABCD'S, that you first learnt about in the Emergency First Respond Primary Care Course, to assure there is no looming threat to the patients life - while providing care that offers encouragement, relieves pain and reduces the risk of any further harm.
The Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Courses are structured into the following three areas:
Independent Study
Through independent study you will learn about the eight skills of Primary Care and the four skills of Secondary Care. For both courses, you will start off by reading the Independent Study portion of your Emergency First Response Participant manual. At the end of these independent study sections, you will find one knowledge review for each course. You will then need to complete both of these simple knowledge reviews, as well as watch the Emergency First Response video ahead of class.
Skill Development
During the skill development session you will get a chance to practice these skills under guidance from your instructor.
Scenario Practice
When you have learnt all the required skills, you will attend to simulated emergencies organised by your Emergency First Response Instructor!
At the end of the course, you will have earned yourself a recognized CPR and First Aid qualification in Emergency First Response. You can be comforted that if an emergency situation should ever arrive you will know what to do.
